The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka the Mormon Church or the LDS Church) began in 1830 in the United States. Because of this (and because there are many Mormons from the United States), many people believe that the Mormon Church is an “American” religion.

However, Elder L Tom Perry of the 12 Apostles said that the Lord provided a cradle for the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the cradle being the United States of America. He says that, “In there Church there is a bond that binds us together which knows no national boundaries.” That said, the LDS Church is for everyone in all lands.

Kwaku mentions that the Church needed to be established somewhere with religious freedom. In the 1830s, the United States had that religious freedom in order for the Church of Jesus Christ to be established. David talks about Joseph Smith being prepared for the Restoration of the gospel and the necessity of a country with freedom of religion.

Mormonism is a religion for all of God’s children. God has prepared many countries to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ and we will forever be grateful for the work in all of these countries.
